CONSCIOUS IN CRAFT
“How you climb a mountain is more important than reaching the top” - Yvon Chouinard
I aspire to be a more conscious, responsible creator who always strives to do better for people and the planet.
QUALITY PRODUCT DESIGN
At the heart of the products I want to deliver to customers, are quality, durability, and functionality. I challenge my colleagues to always think a step further:
- What does end of life look like for this product?
- How modular is it regarding it components?
- What’s the repairability?
Driving answers to such questions and other sustainability topics in the design phase, leads to better products and happier customers in the end.
CLEANER PRODUCTION
I’ve found in my work, that to enact real sustainable change, transparency is a key step. So I’m no stranger to pushing through those hard conversations to understand the complexities of how and where products are created. Some of that includes:
- Creating Sustainability Scorecards
- Material & Supplier Sourcing/Management
- Outlining Production Process
- Researching and implementing procedures for needed certifications
(B-Corp, ISCC, ISO, REACH)
- Setting Strategic Goals & Commitments
- Supporting internal & external audits
CIRCULAR PROCESSES
For bigger sustainability goals, a holistic approach to product and business needs to be taken and that means actually doing more with less and exploring new disruptive partnerships and capitalizing on existing systems. Some aspects of my work here were in:
- Reusable Packaging
- Evaluating & Designing Internal Operational Processes
- Tackling Resource Consumption Along the Supply Chain
- Product Take-back Systems
- Studying the Circular Economy and collaborating with Industry Front-runners on their practices
